Study before,of course, get a good night's sleep (don't cram) and eat a light protein meal not more than 2 hrs. before. There have been studies that show that if students do this, they perform up to 30% better on exams (that's a big advantage) However, many students lose marks carelessly by not taking the time to really understand the question, and to brainstorm before they answer. They jump right in and start answering as if it was a race and very often they miss the nuances of the question. I remember having this question in university: "which of these is not incorrect" I answered it by choosing what I thought was the "not correct" answer because my brain didn't register the prefix. I was lucky because something about the question didn't feel right and having enough time, I went back, only to realize that this was a tricky double negative and I would have lost marks even though I knew my material. I swore then that when I become a teacher I will never give my students trick questions, and I never have, but many teachers do. So the best advice is take your time, think, brainstorm and the last thing to do is to write.

finish your paper 15 mins early and go through the paper as many times as possible
never leave any space blank, before starting to write an answer, plan how u r gonna write it, prepare well, never get tensed and present the paper i a really neat way.
if its a math exam practice and concept understanding is all that you need.
if its a science learn definitions exactly and give importance to learning applications of the stuffs and answer many questions from many other text books.
studying for exams depends on the syllabus you follow. i follow ICSE, tell me ur syllabus and i can help u further

be fair to ur studies and to u also.just dont avoid ur food or playing as it is also imp. for sound mind.take proper sleep also.revise ur chapters through a timetable fixed by u . give more time to science and social science.if u r weak in maths then daily three hours practice.do not forget english and hindi but provide sufficient time to it .u could also take juices to keep urself relax instead of tea.my advice tht do not anything for three hours before u sit for exams.

exert more effort when studying. do your best in the exam. and don't forget to pray. actually, it isn't important that you scored highest in the exam. it's more important that you gave your best shot in taking it.
