Is anyone reading "I Am the Messenger" by Marcus Zusak or has read it? If so, what do you think of it?

I read the story for a book club. I'm really glad it was suggested because it is not they type of story I usually read. I thought the story was pretty good and although sometimes it skirted being too heavy handed about the philanthropy theme I don't think it ever went overboard with it. It was a good story with a strong moral center.

I thought the ending was a little confusing and there were a number of different opinions within the group about what the ending meant, but I don't want to get in to my feelings on it here because I don't want to ruin the story for anyone else.

I liked it. It was my second Zusak novel to read. I didn't like it as much as I liked The Book Thief, but I did enjoy reading it.
