It isn't exactly spherical, it also bulges at the "waist", this is due to the spin.

Unknown i think... Maybe because it needs to rotate, and everything gets a pretty much even amount of light (meaning around the equator) and life can live in something like this. Also coz if it were rectangle there would be corners and everthing would be weird... More natural disasters. I'm only in year 9 so, i ain't all that good at this... But out of my knowledge (i'm learning about this kinda stuff in science at the moment) i think i'm close to right!
Wait just got the correct answer then. Coz the core is in the middle. The core pulls everything inwards. It has an even amount of pull on every side, therefore making it even in all parts. mmmhmmm

None of the answers so far are correct, I think.
Simply put, gravity pulls things closer to the center. So when the matter currently in the Earth was NOT already solid, it got pulled as close to the center as it could get. When that happens, you get a sphere. That's the same reason the heaviest matter, namely the core, tends to be toward the center.
All the other factors affecting its shape are the reasons it's not a PERFECT sphere, and why the elements aren't perfectly aligned from densest to lightest. But gravity is the reason that stars and planets tend to be spherical.

The world is not round, round is a two-dimensional (flat) area and the world is a three-dimensional space.

the spehirical shape was formed when the dust sent spinning iron that made the inner core. it will continue to spin rounding the earth. like when u sharpen a knife. the rotating wheel makes its nice and smooth

A sphere is the most efficient shape, the least amount of surface for the most amount of interior. Nature is good that way!
-P.S., It isn't gravity. Bubbles and water droplets are also spheres for the same reason.

because y is actually an alphabet and z the last of the alphabets and when you combined all the alphabets from a-z you will get ROUND! :)
