I have not travelled much but funny, the 2 places you mention, I've visited. You don't need to gamble to enjoy Las Vegas -- good buffets there if you like dining out. Make reservations with a motel on the main strip. Bring your camera. A local bus runs the length of the strip. I think you can pay and hop on them. We did not ride the overhead transportation.

We drove to the Grand Canyon years ago when the children were young. We stayed in a hotel in the park. We didn't stay to take the helicopter ride or ride down to the bottom of the canyon on a donkey (or burro?).. Amazing views. Also I remember snow on the ground. Trip out was beautiful past Aspen trees which we'd never seen before.

I honestly didn't care for Las Vegas much--probably also because I also don't gamble. For a casino city, I liked Atlantic City better because it has the beachside boardwalk. For "sin city", I think New Orleans does it better. I enjoyed the desert area in southeast California much better than Las Vegas itself.

The Grand Canyon is both beautiful and fascinating. Everybody should see it at least once.

Get a tour on a helicopter and fly over Hover Dam and/or Grand Canyon it is really cool.
Also you can look at the show in the hotels(you have to pay for some) not for Treasure Island or Belagio. They are outside. It is best to see during the night.

As a child all the time. Started a love affair with trains that has never ended. I loved the smell , the noises - the chugging of the wheels made words, fish an' chips, ham an' eggs, gotta go etc (say them to yourself without a pause between the words and get the feeling of the sound) as the speed altered or we went down an incline. I can still conjure up the smell at will and all the smut and flakes coming in the window just added to the magic. The train down to Weymouth used to pass through the town and to a child seeing the town and the holiday makers through the carriage windows after hours of fields and cows etc was the best part of the journey. Nothing can ever comes close.....

I love traveling...

I am from texas and the places I like going the most are The northern states because it's something so different from where I live...

The landscape, accents just the way everything is is so different than where I live.

I wouldn't live there but seeing something different every once in a while is cool.

I would love to go to australia.
