A few years ago I made the decision to let my then 5 year old go to live with her dad because I thought he would be able to provide for her financialy better then I could. At the time, I was making $10 an hour and he was making $18 and was married to a family law paralegal making a good chunk of change herself, somehow I ended up paying $400 a month in child support. I need it to go down, the entire time I was paying, I could bairly afford rent in a shared house. Now I have a second child and we can not survive. When I do the work sheet online it says I shouldn't be paying anything. That can't be right. Does anyone know of an organazation in AZ who can help me with the paper work to get it lowered?

PS. Hes also got a judgement against me for back support during the time I was pregnant with my son and unable to work, I've fallen even further behind because the baby was unable to go to daycare until 13 months due to illness.

Modification to child support orders can be done at anytime there is a change of circumstances.. In your case the birth of a child changes your financial situation. Call your child support case worker and let them know you want to file for a modification to review and reduce your child support order... They will then send you the paperwork to file. Usually within 4 to 6 weeks the case goes back into court for a review and as long as you can provide proof of the new child (birth certificate) and proof of your income (pay stubs, unemployment, social sec benefits, W2 forms) the courts will re-calculate the child support obligation.

well, boo hoo Missy, i have had my 2 children for the past 11 years, do you know how much their mother, yes their mother owes me. and the state figured her child support on a minimum wage. hell she can't pay that, oh, let me rephrase, she wont pay anything. she has been to jail many times, and you know what holier than hell women who have to pay. i must say i have received 5800.00 in 11 years, how many sets of clothes can you buy for that. any way, men pay far more than a woman ever will. you used that thing to have fun with, and sounds like you ex did a good job a being a father. so suck it up. pay what you owe, and just be happy you are not wearing a set of male articles.
just a note, she said she has other kids, and should not have to pay anything, ok, but what happens to a man when he remarries, nothing.

Contact your local Dept of Human Services or Legal Aid-they can help you file the paperwork to ask for it to be lowered. The court will take into consideration your wages and your daughter's father's, as well as the fact that you have another child in your home. It IS worth it. Or petition for custody of the child and have both in your home and have HIM pay child support! Also, check to see if your baby is qualified to receive SSI through Social Security.

Here is a link to the AZ agency. You should be able to get info on a local office from this site. They will help you review the amount of support you are ordered to pay.

State IV-D child support agencies assist both custodial and non-custodial parents pursuant to the financial needs of their children. Their policies are dictated by federal regulation and state law, so practices may differ from state to state.

You are probably filling out the worksheet incorrectly. When it asks about your dependents you can not count your new baby. It was your decision to have another child and that decision does not mean that your first child no longer deserves support.

Why are you having more kids??? Responsibility should be your first concern, to yourself.
