If it comes and goes at irregular intervals and then stays for three or four days at a time, then you should see a doc about it may be gout - which is no big deal but they have meds that make it never come back.

It sounds like youve broken something. Breaking just one of the foot's many tiny bones can cause these symptoms, and you might not have realized you broke it. Is there any discoloration? If so it could be an infection of some kind. You should see a doctor right away to determine the cause.

Place yr feet in an ice bath for 2-3 hours then rub with KY gel.

i experienced the same symptoms 5 years back, at one point i can't walk and was wheel-chaired to see the doctor!
i'm sure that what you have is gout. it is caused by accumulation of uric acid especially around our joints such toes, ankles, fingers and arm joints.
if it got worst you might want to see your family doctor for shots! it will immediately relieves the pain.

prevention of accumulation of uric acid:
1. drink lots of water
2. watch your diet and avoid taking foods that promotes production of uric acid such as squids, shrimps, soya bean products, cabbages etc.

go have your blood examine for uric acid level. my uric acid level is normal!
