And when you think back on your younger years...do you realize that you weren't who you THOUGHT you were then?

Oh yeah. Unless you are the best psychic in the world, I don't think there's any way you can predict how you will turn out when you are an adult. Life throws these new obstacles (and wonderful gifts) at you.

Also, I think it's hard for people to evaluate who they really are -- especially when they are young and don't have much practice at self-reflection. (-: I'm sure we can all think of instances when we thought we were WAAAYYY COOOOOL, but we weren't very cool at all. And there are other instances where we thought we were complete idiots and wanted to sink into the earth -- but actually, we didn't make such fools of ourselves after all.

That said, I think it's possible to make general predictions and work hard to attain them. It may not be exactly what you planned, but it can be close. And, it's also possible to be generally what you think you are.

Most kids start off wanting to be a train driver or fireman or spaceman - that sort of thing. Something they can relate to that seems exciting to them at that age. As you get older, you become more realistic. I always wanted to be a sailor, and at 15 years old I joined the Navy and had 12 great years of it. That was as far as I had thought, so when I left the navy I had to take 'fill-in' jobs. But I got a chance to go to University, study law, and had nearly 30 years in the courts - fascinating.
But if you had told me at 12 years of age, one of five kids, living on a council estate, that I would go to uni and then get a job in law, I would have just laughed.
But the actual 'persona' bit is a lot more difficult. It still changes. I have been an extrovert and an introvert. I was a short fat kid and now am a slim 6'3".
I am sure I am a different person now than I thought I would be when I was a child. But looking back to childhood days, I still think I was who I thought I was. (This gets a bit complicated).
I am now turned 60. Hope this answers your question, if only obliquely.

I had a innovative and prescient of who i'd be as an grownup and my existence has led me to comprehend that innovative and prescient. i did not do not forget that the innovative and prescient would substitute and that has been a contented wonder. I knew 2 issues at the same time as i grow to be youthful, that i needed to be a spouse and mom and that i needed to pursue a music occupation. i have been waiting to do both and upload more beneficial objectives as existence is going on! i'm precisely who i presumed i grow to be then, yet a lot more beneficial!

Yes, I grew up to be a different person.
And no, I was who I thought I was then. Experiences changed me. We are who we are at the time.

Many things have happened to me I never would have predicted. Except...sometimes I think, at the far edges of my imagination, it was all there already, somewhere.
