here is the reason: this question is similar to asking "why do you drive a car on a freeway at 70 mph during crowded conditions, you know you can be killed". The reason why kids get onto myspace, ride bikes, or people drive cars is because it is fun, or necessary, and the CHANCES of them getting killed are extremely low. I have no idea how many people are on myspace, but there are like 500,000,000 on it, so the chances that YOU are the one who are gonna get kidnapped are similar to the chances of getting hit by a car or robbed...unlikely.

Well, it seems that myspace is the cool place to be with your friends--even if you're underage (perhaps especially if you're underage). These underage kids probably think something like getting kidnapped or killed could never happen to them. Feelings of invincibility are common to this age group. I agree with other posters that parents who sit down with their kids and talk about what they are posting and putting out there will have more success protecting their kids. Also, I believe that computers should be in a central location in the home--not a child's bedroom.

Well you can't exactly say that. Myspace isn't as bad as everyone says. People need to stop cursing the site so much. The only reason these kids are being killed, is because they are too stupid to NOT talk to strangers. And then meet them. I use myspace, but I don't talk to people I don't know. If they knew not to give out personal info, and to talk to only their friends, we wouldn't be having a problem. I would never talk to some stranger, and want to meet them. But sadly some kids don't know that. Parents need to sit down with their kids.

except you're under sixteen your self, i do no longer think of Myspace will prepare all people under sixteen in seek outcomes. So except she's giving her Myspace out to strangers, she could be ok. fb is a lot like Myspace, yet you are able to in trouble-free terms see the profiles of folk who're your individuals.
