Because sound waves can't travel through a vacuum (which is the absence of a molecular medium). Sound are pressure waves. To have pressure, you need "stuff" or matter (and zero matter is a vacuum).

The answer is already in the Question my friend =) A. Longitudinal wave..here's the explaination: 'Sound Waves' travel through a medium.... this is written in the question. Sound waves is a type of Longitudinal Wave, and ONLY sound waves is Longitudinal Wave =) For Transverse Wave, it is light wave, water wave, X-ray and so on that are shown in Electromagnetic Spectrum list. For Longitudinal Wave : the particles of the medium move parallel to the wave motion For Transverse Wave : the particles of the medium move PERPENDICULAR to the wave motion A simple way to memorize the type of wave is that, for Transverse Wave, the initial is Letter T. So, it will shown like a zig zag image like you see a wave of water, zig zag or shall we say 'wave like shape' =) As for Longitudinal Wave, you can differ it from Letter T. Hope this simple explaination help you my friend =) I wish best luck of you in Physics

the sound waves propagate in a medium by vibration between the particles of a medium and when there is no medium, then these waves can,t propagate as there is no particles which can vibrate and propagate the sound wave

Because it is the interaction of the molecules in the medium which transmits sound.

They are compression waves: they need to compress something and that something is the medium.

sound is produced due to alternative compression and rarefaction of particles. thus particles of mediums are required.
