All Australia's mammals are not marsupials. The endemic placental mammals include eight macrobats - flying foxes and their relatives; 51 microbats; 55 rats and mice; 8 seals and sealions and a dugong. There are two monotremes, the platypus and the short-beaked echidna.

The marsupials include such delightfully named creatures as:
Pig-footed bandicoot
Ningbing antechinus
Dibbler
Brush-tailed phascogale
Spotted-tailed quoll
Marsupial mole
Wongai Ningaui
Spotted cuscus
Little pygmy-possum
Bridled nailtail wallaby

I bet no-one else in your class will have those.

Koala

Antechinus.

A marsupial is an animal who's young are born in an immature state (pinkies) in a pouch. They attach themselves to the nipple in mums pouch and stay there until they are formed and grow.

Also, the Koala is called a KOALA, not a Koala Bear, it is not a bear, it s a marsupial - it rears its young in a pouch. The Thylacine (tasmanian tiger) is extinct. The platypus & echidna are monotremes - egg laying mammals, they lay eggs, then when the young are born, they suckle their young.
