I live in Texas and I go to a racially mixed school. We were talking about the minutemen and securing our borders in class and I said I supported what the minutemen were doing because I feel that our borders should be secure because we don't who may enter this country or what kinds of things they may bring into this country. The Mexicans and other Hispanics called me a racist because of this. What do you think about this????

There are two MAIN U.S. Borders (the two, people are typically familiar with):

1. The U.S.-Mexico Border

2. The U.S.-Canada Border

WHY do you think they assumed you were a racist?

It's because they (Mexicans) are victims of stereotypes that say that they are "wetbacks" who only want to sell drugs, take up jobs, force bilingual education in American, and take the profits back home to Mexico.

If England were at our border instead of Mexico, ---do you think we'd have "MINUTEMEN"??

Maybe the whole Mexican Immigration issue is a question of discrimination to some extent.

I've certainly never heard a lot of "hoo-hah" over a Canadian illegally crossing the border. Have you?

DONT GET ME WRONG-- It's just that in dealing with this whole race issue, I ONLY wanted to you get some idea of the "other side's" perspective.

Remember, your own ancestors were at one time IMMIGRANTS-- among them were all sorts of people,--the Good AND Bad alike.

I live down the street from the head of the minutemen, jim gilchrist, so this is an issue many people around here bring up. Many minutemen in orange county (original minutemen) are racist in thier protests. In a way it has become a stereotype just as "all mexicans are illegals".. http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/uploaded_images/Minutemen%20rally%202-706494.jpg. There has also been controversy with this group because of the shootings at the borders. Something that I havnt been able to understand is if the minutemen are so centered on the legalities and not race, then why does their focal point seem to be the border of mexico, when many people stay illegally on student visas. People forget that the pilgrims came here illegally.

People that have no logical resolution for things that they want will always, and I mean always, use emotion and threats of physical violence to get their way.

The Mexicans want their "homies" here because they "erroneously" believe that this will be good for them and enable them to overpower the White people. They don't realize that the majority of crimes committed by illegals are committed against other Mexicans. They don't realize that these illegals are also taking away their jobs and lowering their wages. They don't realize that by allowing a bunch of ignorant, uncouth criminals into out country they are degrading the American way of life. They don't realize that if it continues then America will be just like Mexico; a pigsty of a country whose government is totally corrupt and allows its people to starve. They don't realize that the Muslim terrorists are starting to come up through Mexico and will soon be killing all "infidels" in the US. Try to overlook their ignorance and stupidity and feel a little bit of pity for them as they have no chance at any kind of a decent life, not because they are Mexican but because they are stupid Mexican.

Stick to your guns.

A secure border is a necessity anywhere. Legal immigrants can be a very positive thing. Illegal anything is illegal.

So long as you don't support thugs who harrass legal people who are here because of what they look like or are, you are not doing anything wrong.

You're free to your opinion. Someone will always think negative of you. Now if you jumped up in class and said "Yeah, lets kick those wetbacks back to Mexico!!!" then you'd be a racist...and that's wrong

Because calling someone a racist is an easy out for people who can't counter your argument (or opinion) with facts. No one is saying foreigners aren't allowed to come to America, they are saying that you need to follow the rules to do so.

Enjoy your classmates stupidity now because they probably won't be in the next grade with you.

Being right isn't always popular. Usually, the opposite.

You didn't take into account that the others (mexicans and hispanics) would be offended by your comment. You must think before you say such things.
