The mighty oak! :) No question about it! It's an absolutely gorgeous tree, it's long-lived, and it's an important part of many ecosystems. Also, I agree with the Druids that oaks are symbolic of strength, wisdom, patience, longevity and fertility.
Another interesting thing about oaks, if you ever delve into ethnobotany, is that no other tree has had more attention paid to it -- throughout history and across all world cultures -- as the OAK! :) I'm certainly not surprised!

The common fig tree.
I love nature and a fig tree is the best place to see animals.
The fig family also has some of my best loved plants, banyans and strangler figs are great fun to explore.
I've got one on some land I look after adjacent to me. Tried some fruit but the bugs and delicate stomach put me off. The squirrels, muntjac, wild boar and loads of birds all seem to love them though.
There are some big banyans within an hour of here, now that is an amazing tree. Crevices and activity everywhere. Never seen a mature strangler fig though, but they look great on the telly. The ones I've seen are still busy killing the tree.

Weeping willows. They're just so beautiful, everytime I see one it makes me feel like I'm five again and a princess in a beautiful forest. Maybe I'm crazy. But they're just so goregous and magical for me, and really fun to sit inside and do whatever on a nice summer day, heck have an under the tree picknic with someone special :]

The Rowan is my favourite but when I was little I loved the apple trees in the garden. I used to sit under them with my Milly-Molly-Mandy books in the summer to get away from my bully brother.
