I've had all three and raise guinea pigs now and I have to say guinea pigs are more cuddly and easier to handle and hold . You must be careful when picking them up though this part frightens them . To save trouble and keep them comfortable I initially coax them into a shoe box while still in the cage and pick them up with it . Once out then you can hold them and they won't be so scared and enjoy a good petting and back scratching . I like hamsters and gerbils also but they squirm a lot and can be hard to hold onto , also they have a shorter lifespan .

Guinea pigs are timid creatures. Neglected / poorly socialised guinea pigs are jumpy nervous creatures. A hamster has a habit of bending his body down with the pressure of your hand. So you only feel a little bit of fluff when you try to stroke him. Moreover hamsters don't really like to be touched for too long, they generally get cranky and bite to let you know they've had enough and want to be left alone in their cage. A gerbil can be stroked but they don't normally stay in one spot for too long. They prefer exploring your clothes and getting into pockets etc. A tame guinea pig is a lovebug. They are docile and love nothing more than lazing on your lap while you groom them or feed them snacks. Gerbils and guinea pigs do not bite. I think guinea pigs are also the perfect size for cuddling.

I have had all three of those animals guinea pigs are hyper (most of them) and are very skiddish when you hold em',and gerbils cannot be still for 3 seconds a hamster is your bestest choice they are calm and sometimes live longer than 3 years get a Teddy Bear Hamster they are about 12.00 and they live the longest outta hamsters! Good Luck!

Neither. Get a rat. Hamsters are evil and very aggressive. Gerbils can't stand being held. And guinea pigs are very timid and extremely hard to tame. Rats are the greatest! They are very smart NEVER aggressive and absolutely LOVE attention and are very affectionate. They are clean and the most lovable animal you will ever have!! Take it from me who has had rats, hamsters, gerbils, and mice. RAT RAT RAT!! RAT RAT RAT!!!

Guinea pigs love affection; hamsters and gerbils flee from it.

i adopted a guinea pig a couple years ago thinking it would want to be held and would keep me company but none of that was true. he was very messy and did not like being picked up at all. so in my opinion i would not get a guinea pig.

hamsters defiantly, its only takes about a week of light handling for them to get used to them. they are very fuzzy. much more than gerbils and waaaaay more than guinea pigs. trust me. hamster. go with a fancy hamster or a golden hamster. they are the fuzziest xD

I know that hamsters are known for biting. guinea pigs are OK. Actually one of the best pets to have is a rat. I know eeww...from what I hear they are actually affectionate. My daughter has been asking for one. I just can't get over the look of their tails.
