I recently bought a Dell Inspiron E1505 with a Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG wireless card. It can't connect to the internet wirelessly because Intel's latest driver aren't good enough to work with Vista (yes, it's suppose to be Vista compatible). I'm not the only one with this problem, Dell's forums are full of customers who are mad. I love the computer otherwise. Eventually it will work, but it's a pain waiting. A computer's no fun without the internet.

Your best bet - WAIT! I'm serious. There are way too many bugs right now. Wait a few months, or longer if you can. Most programs don't work with Vista either. My friend tried installing my Pinnacle Studio software on her computer (we later tried it on mine) and it's not compatible. That goes with almost everything else out there right now as well. It's not worth the money for all the troubles I've run into. It will be in the end though...I love my computer otherwise, it's pretty sweet and incredibly fast!

Also, I recommend at least 2GB of RAM if you do decide to buy.

The HP laptops I saw when helping my friend looked pretty good. My friend bought one of the cheaper HPs which was pretty stacked with all the stuff you really need, dvd burner with litescribe, good video memory, 1 gig of ram and 120 gigs of storage.

He got it for 899 at comp usa and he says he loves it. He was going to get an ibook but holy geez they are expensive and it didn't even include a cd burner.

you can't make a badly designed non-standard closed Microsoft operating system run any better no matter what computer you buy.
