Wild animals-racoons foxes squirrels you'll get more easily than a omesticated like dog or cat but only if the animal has the rabies virus does not mean all racoon, all squirrels etc have rabies. But wild animals do not get inoculated against like domestic. If you do encounter a wild animal esp injured and because they are usually scared of humans try to protect hands if you need to pick up even if you must take off jacket or shirt etc.drape over the animal esp the head/eyes nd forefeet to avoid it struggling a lot but loosely so you do not suffocate. A animal that has rabies will be very aggressive, foam at the mouth, will act vry thirsty but unable to drink the water like a dog looking sick and panting hanging head over water but not drinking- you will know there is something very wrong with the animal.

I saw your other post about animals that attack people. If you are afraid that your animal, or another animal that has attacked a human has rabies there are two options.

1. Have the animal killed and tested for rabies

2. Get the shots to prevent rabies. It is a series and I've been told that it is really important to get them done ASAP.

If you think that you have been bitten by an animal that is or could be rabid, see a doctor ASAP! Rabies is fatal!

Mostly dogs and foxes. Other large breed animals can carry rabies, but smaller animals usually don't carry it because they are so small they would probably be killed by the rabid animal instead of just being infected.
