I am not sure of the date but I think it is coming soon. I have heard that this day signifies the beginning of anouther polar ice cap shift. (not really sure if one happened before but lots of evidence to suggest it could have happend.)

You are confusing the Aztecs and the Maya.
The so-called "end date" of the Mayan Long Count Calendar is 12-21-2012, although it is not an ending at all, but the beginning of the 13th Baktun. Calendars and time don't end.
It's got nothing to do with a pole shift either. The pole shift was supposed to happen on 05-05-2000 when all the other planets were in line on the opposite side of the sun and it didn't.

its dec 20 2012 -- you have a few more years -- fyi it is largely assumed not the end of the world but the end of an era with a new era beginning. in short right now we are living in the worst of times -- things can only get better.
