We're two separate nations with separate governments, customs and language. It seems odd to say," we're separated by a common language", (someone else said that) but it's the truth. The English love their Monarchy and we think it's odd. The Parliamentary Democracy of the UK is no where near our Constitutional Republic form of government.
We'd be miserable with them and they'd be miserable with us. It's better just being friends.

No, just like Canada they're too liberal in comparison to the the US. Best left as BFF.

Didn't we fight a war about 230 years ago so that we wouldn't be part of them anymore? Why would we want them back?
