Don't do it yourself! There's a nerve in the cartilidge that if you do it wrong can paralyze that side of your face. Definatley a job for the pros.

Don't do it yourself!!! I have had my cartlidge on my upper ears peirced a total of 5 holes and every time I had someone do it. Even with an ear peircing gun and going super fast it still hurts a bit, and cartlidge takes longer to heal than just flesh so you want it done right and sterile. If it gets infected in cartlidge in can start forming a bump and that bump is PERMANENT! I also have hadthe little flap of cartlidge by the center of the ear (I know it starts with a "T") and that one my body didn't like too well and I have a little bump from the infectin, but I caught it in time so it's only small.

I don't advise doing this... My daughters freind did her own and it did get infected.... She said she sterilized the needle and the ring, but it still got infected. She ended up having to go to dr for it. The doctor told her that infections in head are bad because can travel quickly to vital areas (like the brain maybe) and that sometimes the infection can even get in the cartlidge itself and can cause perm. damage.

first you have to numb your ear with ice for about 10 to 15 minutes. then you have to get a needle put a thin thread through the needle. tie a tiny knot on the end of the string then pull the needle through where you wanted it to be peirced and stop at the knot. grab the knot pull it back outof your ear and then some peroxcidethen take a paper towel or toilet paper and wipe off the blood. then put an earring through it and clean off your ear with a q-tip. keep the earring on for at leas 2 to three months before you switch earrings. let me tell you, its gonna hurt. your other option is going to get it done by the people who do it with the guns.

umm, DON'T. what do you need all of that metal in your ears for anyway? two and a cartilidge looks good, maybe even three. uneven numbers look better. don't get/do two in the same part of the ear at the same time. do one. let it heal, then decide if you want another. it is easier to get another than to wait for one to close up. plus they'll heal better one at a time (per ear). if you are really determined to do it yourself (DON'T), use a sewing needle, STERILISE it. repetedly. hold it in a flame until it is red hot. let it cool, do it again. hot water will not work. after sterilising, allow to cool before it touches your ear. do not let it touch anything but air before it touches your ear after it is sterilised. if it touches anything- sterilise it again. wash you hands really well with anti bacterial soap before you start sterilising the needle, and touch as little of everything/anything that you can after washing your hands. if you can get your hands on a pair or surgical gloves (like from the pharmacey or a first aid kit) wear those. clean your ear with an alcohol wipe, alcohol solution (one designed for the purpose of sterilisation) or an antiseptic wipe before you pierce it. mark a dot on your ear so you know where to aim (uneven would be annoying). ice your ear for no more than 20 mins to numb it, don't keep the ice on it if the cold is hurting. when you do it, do it fast and without hesitation. put something behind the lobe for the needle to go into. a lemon or lime would be good (washed first), the juice is acidic enough to not worry about bacteria and the skin seems about right for catching the needle. probably best to get someone else to do it for you (following all the sterilisation stuff) as the holes will be closer to where you want them that way. sterilise the needle between ears, clean hands again if you don't go straight from one ear to the next, use a diff part of the skinof the lemon/lime. having made the holes, insert stud earring made of gold (the post, not the stud) with a gold butterfly. clean the earrings and butterflies with whatever antiseptic wipes you used (but clean ones) before putting them in. be prepared for it to hurt and to not come out accurately. if you have whatever solution you were given to take care of your peircings you got done professionaly, that'll work as the antiseptic, and follow the care insructions after doing it. this seems really over the top, but the sterilisation of eveything is really important. it really is just easiet to get it done at a Claire's or something.
