Freedom from having responsibility for one's self and one's actions? Freedom to pass the blame on to everyone else?

Why is it sooo many modern liberals have no clue that Liberals went socialist in the 60s? Liberal doesn't mean you support homosexuals, respect minorities or seek to help American workers...

I'm for equal rights, freedoms in the constitution, but liberals got COMPLETELY derailed... Now the idea is help us so we dont have to help ourselves.

Dude, the people that built this country all believed in liberalism. All founding father's were liberals, even radicals. Think about it, if this country was founded by conservatives we would still be under British rule, women couldn't vote or have jobs, and there would still be slavery. Liberalism is about questioning what is going on at the time. We have the right to ask WTF once and a while. Of course us liberals need conservatives to keep us in check, otherwise there would be a death penalty for cutting down a certain type of tree. I am a middle of the road guy that leans to the left, so I understand the importance of balance. We need each other so neither of us gets too much power, and I think we have done a pretty good job of making the US great so far. All the right wingers blaming left wingers is great, but there are times when we are due for a change. The Lefts start the change, and the right goes with it but keeps it toned down. It all works out. Don't hate the left, I don't hate the right.

No, that is NOT a Liberal's idea of freedom!

I have never read so much ridiculous drivel from a questioner or his many answerers!

I am a Liberal. I work, hard, even tho' I am in pain (literally) almost all the time. I pay taxes. I don't pass the buck.

But I'll tell you one thing: if the govt. can use my taxes for things I disapprove of like this stupid "war", then it can use my taxes for ME and my family, too! If any of my people need a helping hand because they have lost their jobs or suffered some other kind of set back, they are welcome to it!! I've paid into "the system" for years, and so has my Liberal family!

To say that Hitler's fascist state was based on "liberalism" proves that the person who said that has NO IDEA of what a Liberal is!

I think you just love to hear yourself talk.

I suggest you get out and find out what liberals are really like rather than listening to Limbaugh, Hannity, or watching Fox. Because liberals really do favor responsibility, everyone being responsible for the well-being of everyone else and not shirking the responsibility to promote the well-being of society at large.

I could argue that conservatives do plenty of their own responsibility ditching. Big business doesn't want to be held responsible for cleaning up their environment disasters. The current administration and previous Republican congress didn't want to be responsible for paying for massive military costs so they shrugged it off to future generations. And big Republican supporters like Kenneth Lay sure didn't want to be held responsible for manipulating energy markets and their stockholders with dubious accounting practices.

So don't give us any guff about liberals not being responsible. The people on your side of the political divide sure aren't providing any good examples of responsibility.

Are you a democrat? Do you believe that hillary clinton would make a great president? You sound just like the type of a person that the democrats want on their side to vote for them. In part, that is exactly what they believe in.
If you desire to believe that rubbish, then ask this of yourself, would I want this to affect me? Am I wiling to let others do harm to me, and to have no responsibility for their actions? If not, then no, liberalism is not true freedom, it is actually a prison where no justice is ever granted because no one is ever at fault. If this is truly what you desire, then I would have to agree with others who think you might be a bit nuts, or worse.

That is part of it. If you look at what they stand for. They are an oxymoron though. They talk of being liberal, but yet want big government and try to silence anyone that disagrees with them. They slander and go to name calling instead of dealing with an issue of debate in a rational manner, refuse to use reliable information and rely on stupid blogs of made up garbage to back up what they say. If you don't agree with them you are brainwashed. If you point out that their philosophy is a mixture of Socialism and Communism they go into denial and freak out, or start talking about how the rich need to be taxed more, but wont define what is rich. They don't understand why people look at them as nut job wackos. They give you a thumbs down even if you use only facts. That proves only more of their idiocy and bias and haters of the truth. Half of them hate Bush more than they do terrorists and compare Bush to Hitler which is beyond absurd. You could write a lengthy book on the absurdities of this so called liberalism. It is a mental disorder and they are an enemy within the country in a sense. They would rather see the terrorists win than the world conquer terrorism. If that isn't insane I don't know what is. They think you can go sit and have a talk with terrorists and be peaceful. Yeah, right. They have no clue as to what reality is. They live in their own little warped world.
To all of the far left nut job wackos, thank you for all of the thumbs down. It proves my point that you can't handle the truth. But yet have no way to debate in an intelectual and factual manner. Thank you again for your thumbs down.

"Freedom from having responsibility for one's self and one's actions?"

Well Skippy, as a direct result of your vote and your support for Bush, we are stuck in Iraq. So why aren't you taking personal responsibility by fighting in a war that you "support.?"

Flap those chickenhawk wings down to your local armed forces recruiting office and enlist.

Put up or shut up.

That would be the FOX based definition.
Instead of turning to sound bites for truths , read the works of Thomas Jefferson-the founder of most liberal thinking in American politics.

"I consider trial by jury as the only anchor yet imagined by man by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution....
A little rebellion now and then ... is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government....

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
- Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

"The majority, oppressing an individual, is guilty of a crime, abuses its strength, and by acting on the law of the strongest breaks up the foundations of society"
- Thomas Jefferson

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
- C. S. Lewis (1898-1963)

Wow! Specious generalizatons devoid of context and analysis... sounds like you've mastered the form known as hate speech!

Read a book - try John Locke or Roger Williams or Thomas Paine or Thomas Jefferson. Learn something before you spout off again.

The Liberal bedrock is Socialism. Cradle to the Grave dependance on the State. No incentives for personal achievement and enablement by the establishment for personal vices.
Instead of promoting Abstinance among teens, they pass out Condoms.
Instead of Developing Drug Rehab, they pass out new Needles.
Liberalism is grounded in an Illitist attitude of Low Expectations of the unwashed masses. "Your to stupid to take care of yourself so instead of demanding better from you we will coddle you and pity you while you sit in your own vomit and poop."

I guess you missed economics 101. Please read the section on Supply and Demand! Also read the section on who doesn't get the money when government takes most of it from them!

Cuts for VA for the 2nd time, and tax cuts for the rich the 3rd time.

I don't think you have a clue as to what freedom means! You think you are free? You are 2 paychecks from those you complain about!
