Why is American Education on the decline?

Compare the money that the US spend on funding education and you will see a huge gab and yet such countries as china and Belgium are achieving better scores then americans. Why is that so?

We don't emphasize the importance of education in our society. Dumb is now considered cute.

We have the same system as we did 60+ years ago. This does not work for modern life. (for example, kids originally had the summers off to help their parents with the FARM)

We are behind in math and science. We dont teach foreign languages at a young age.

We don't pay our teachers well, teaching is not an honorable profession like in other countries (where it can be as prestigious as being a doctor).

Remember all that money being spent is not broken down. Most of that spending figure is accounting for schools in WEALTHY neighborhoods. Poor neighborhoods bring in fewer taxes for schools. The system is extremely unequal.

People in China uses military style training with their children ( spanking if you get a average lower than B, making kids stay out in the hot sun, cleaning up the class rooms) They're scared in to achieving better score

It has been dumbed down so that the stupidest, laziest kid can get an A. No Child Left Behind is a joke. All it does is teach how to pass a test. No literature is taught. No one understands history or civics. Math is too hard for these kids. It is ridiculous. No one does anything about discipline problems or truants.

Parents that work to buy more things instead of providing their children with the proper foundation for learning.

Because most of "them" concentrate on ignorance instead of Math, English, Bio or Chem.
