I'm in college and i hate it so much. I have been in school on and off for 6 years. I'm getting to the point and just drop out. I'm suppose to graduate in december 2007, but by looking at my grades, thats a long shot. Its hard trying to have a full time job and work your classes around it. When i find a job, they are at the wrong times. Should i just give up on school and get a full time job and move on with my life. I will be 30 in a few years and I feel that I'm getting no where. Stressed and depressed

You do sound stressed and depressed, but realize that those things can distort your thinking and may cause you to make decisions you will regret. You will be 30 in a few years anyway, but you could be 30 with a college degree or 30 without one. You already know that you would have more options with the degree, but only you can decide if those options are things in which you have any interest. It sounds to me like you could use some good advising and a visit to student psychological services for the depression. You are certainly not alone. It took me three tries to get through college, because I also suffered seriously from depression. I finally finished and went on to get three more degrees (after being on academic probation as an undergrad). I can't even imagine how much tougher my life would have been without the degree, but what I hear in your message is that your self-confidence is gone and you need help believing in yourself again.

Tkae alook at what you will be getting out of your completion. Will the degree get you a better full time job? Some college students graduate only to find that the degree they received meant absolutely nothing. On the other hand, do you want all of those years that you put in to be for nothing? My sister dropped out of college and only needs like 15 more credits to graduate and not one day goes by where she doesn't regret it. If you are feeling depressed about school, maybe you are not in the right field of study. Classes and courses should be something that you find interesting and excited about. My advice is to get through it because you will regret it later in life. Again it all depends on how crucial the degree is in your career/job.

Wow! You're a late bloomer and still haven't decided what it is you really want to be when you grow up. I was that way a little bit but my problem was the opposite...I wanted to be and do everything and couldn't settle on a major or career until I was 35...
I tried a little of everything and became a jack of all trades but a master of none.

You need to find out what it is you really want in life and go for it. Your dreams will keep you interested in life during the times when you aren't working the best jobs. If you have a dream and a goal, you can dig sewer ditches with a smile as you know the present situation is just temporary.

I'm sorry you feel like quiting. Sounds like you chose a major that isn't suited to you. Have you thought about going for career counseling? They have a career office on your university campus and have test you can take to find your best match.

I hope you haven't wasted your time partying and goofing off. If that's the case you really have to hold your feet to the fire to make up for lost time. Find that dream and then all the steps between here and there won't seem so difficult.

Life is a moment in space
When the dream is gone its a lonlier place.

You're pretty close to the finish line, I say go the full monty! There's too much $$$$$ invested in your education already and to give up so close would void the last few years.

College degrees now are needed even for the simplest of jobs; keep in mind it's a highly competetive market where you compete with college grads who will work for less money.
