Statute of limitations generally lasts for 7 years. It will depend on the issue that you are in reference to. The best place for that answer is going to be a lawyer. So far as a "detainer", what are you referring to. Being detained for questioning, usually it's 48 hours provided there has not been a formal charge made. If you are referring to a "retainer" then it will last as long as the one holding it is willing to hold it for you. Some specifics would be nice to get the best answer that you can get.
