property assessment fee? what is it for?

My builder sent me an invoice for a 2006 & 2007 property assessemnt statement. While it is about $100.00 and I will pay it, does anyone know what it is for or what this money goes towards? Thanks

Your question is kind of vague, My question is why is your builder sending you a property assessment statement. Where I live your property is assessed by the town/village/city. They assess how much your property is worth, this assessment determines how much in taxes you owe the city for sewage, school, library, roads,transportation. This is only a short list of the deductions. Are you sure the builder sent the statement ?? I would check with your local city/town hall.
