Loyola Chicago is an excellent school for undergrads. They now have more than 15,000 students; they are not a tiny little school. I used to teach there, and I really liked my students. The quality has picked up a lot since then, as have their facilities. The main campus is in a good part of Chicago called Rogers Park, the campus is nice, and I used to love their library (I taught there while getting my doctorate at Northwestern, and far preferred Loyola's library). I'm still at a Jesuit university, and very much appreciate the "education of the whole person" approach and their concern with ethics and service. I don't know you, so I don't know what would be right for you, but in general, it is a very nice school.

as fas as academics go, it is a decent school, probably equal to UIC. Better than DePaul, but not as good as Northwestern or UChicago. It is in a nice, safe neighborhood...the lincoln park area I believe. It is a very small school, around 5,000 students maybe? DePaul is not too far away and it is the biggest school in the area with around 20,000 students i believe, so the neighborhood is full of college students and yuppies. It is a very "young" area of chicago and one of the nicer parts. Lincoln Park is beautiful with a ton of recreational things to do and you're not that far from the beach or the L for a train ride to the miracle mile or Rush St. for some clubs/bars. It is in one of the nicest/safest areas of chicago and the school is known for being decent. Not the BEST in chicago, but still very good. I'm sure you will enjoy it there if you like the city atmosphere. And if you have a car, parking sucks. Also, there are tons of great, but expensive apts off campus. Nice ones go for about $1,500 a month for a 1 BR, but you can get a dump for $1,700 for a 2 BR and get some roommates. Good Luck
