I went to the store the other day and spent about $66. I wrote a check but the stupid machine they put it through wouldn't accept it. So I used my debit card instead and it accepted. (weird I know seeing its from the same account) When I looked at my account online 3 days later to balance my checkbook, to my surprise, the dang store accepted my check after all! So they charged me twice. I called them and they gave me a check for the second time I was charged. But here's the kicker, since they took it out twice, the second one bounced and now I have over draft charges and have to wait until next week to cover it. The bank takes 20-something for the first time its over drawn and additional 4$ every other day until its paid. I don't have the money until Monday! Do you think I should fight to get the store to pay for my overdraft? I think its only fair! It wouldn't be overdrawn if they wouldn't have done that! What do you think? Its really messed up!

It was the store's mistake, so they should do everything they can to help you get the bank drop the fees. If the bank won't drop them, the store should be responsible for the charges since what happened was their fault, not yours. Good luck.

I would contact the Better Business Bureau in your area. Aren't you tired of getting screwed everwhere you go? I know I am.

Ask the manager and if you get nowhere talk to a bank rep . . . they've helped me with a similar dispute.

Yes, fight with the store - they should pay it, it was their fault, not yours.

DEFINITELY! This is completely fraudulent. I would communicate with them only in writing, and if it comes to it, get a lawyer to send them an angry letter. Trust me, 99% of the time this approach results in a speedy apology and fat check in your name.

yes you should fight it, but it's the stores fault they should reinburse you for everything. not the banks fault.
