Anybody who's ever gotten comic books knows that the first appearance of a character or a good story arc are very important to keep. Then tragedy happens, you lost the book. In my case I remember having Avengers Annual #10(first appearance of Rogue), Uncanny X-Men #137(death of Phoenix), and The New Teen Titans #1(first appearances of Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire). One day my mother threw them out. I never saw them again. That's my "lost 'em" story, what's yours?

FF # 1, Avengers #1, X-Men # 1, Amazing Fantasy # 15, JLA # 1, Green Lantern # 1. My brother inherited them after I got married. He "lost" them shortly thereafter. #@%$.

oooh man! i was in the exact same situation. my dad and mom were divorced, and when i was with him on the weekends he would buy the latest spawn comic for me. i had the copy where violator/clown was first introduced, the copy where redeemer was first introduced, the copy when spawn went to the different levels of hell and met billy kincaid, etc. including copies 1-30ish.
my mom found the comics in my room one day when she was cleaning (i was only around eight i think) and thought the subject matter, language, etc. were "too mature" for me so she threw them out.
i came home from my dad's that weekend to find my priceless collection had vanished without a trace.

luckily, in high school i was talking to one of my friends who also liked spawn comics and said that he needed money and would sell me his collection for $80. i quickly made the deal, seeing as they were in mint condition and worth over $200. since then, i have been hunting down the back issues and now have almost all episodes released to date.

I had a box of comics from my grandfather and my own personal collection. When I moved out, my little brother was really sad. So I gave him my collection. Big mistake! He "lost" most of them, meaning that he sold some for pot and the others were thrown out by mom when he moved out. :(
