I phrased this as a question but I'm not looking for answers, just wanted to use this as a forum to tell people about this new website. I am not affiliated with it, just found it and love it.
Pandora is part of the Genome Music Project and it is free internet radio. You type in a song title or artist name and they set up an internet radio station that plays this song/artist as well as similar stuff by others. You do have to register but it isn't a paid subscription, there may be premium services but the free stuff is great. You can set up up to 100 channels. You can share them with others. You can pause, scroll ahead (not back), and switch between channels to always have something good on.
There is a couple drawbacks. There is no decade or genre selector, strictly by names and titles. So you can't get a 70's channel or a new age channel. Sometimes they aren't all that well-defined, but you can give feedback per song to help them get closer to your preferences.

As I said before, the only search criteria are artist and song. After they find the selection you want, the only thing that brings other songs to that channel have to do with the way the song sounds...major vs minor, percussive, electric, electronic, acoustic, etc.
This is particularly bothersome I suppose to Christian music lovers who might not want secular music at all and find their POD channel full of Slayer music.
It isn't perfect but it is smooth running, doesn't affect other programs running that much. And it is a free way to hear entire songs of music you may not know about.
