I can buy 2 GB chips from apple.com however how many can I put in my MacBook? (First Generation/Black)

Hello jmontenegro,

I think that maybe 2 Gigabytes is the maximum, but you should look at your paperwork to double-check on that. Apple's web site used to have a place where you could get the technical specs for each model. You could try this:

... and go from there. I think that maxing out on your RAM is the best investment you can make for your Macintosh. It will really improve your Mac's performance and speed. Best of luck to you.
