Although the final Battle of Chattanooga might have only killed 12000 troops, you cannot look at the Battle of Chattanooga as just occurring two or three days. It includes The Battle of Chickmauga, which was a dreadful battle and then the encircling of the Union Troops which retreated from Chickamauga into Chattanooga and were kept there for several months before Grant got into town and the final Battle of Chattanooga took place.
