Have they done anything important? All you talk about is basketball stats...kind of a meaningless legacy.

The basketball "legacy" has yet to be determine because both are still playing! If both of their careers ended today, I would have to agree with you. But at 34, Shaq's best games are likely behind him, while at 28, Kobe is really just hitting his stride - and he seems to be maturing a bit, which can only help contribute to building a legacy.

Don't get me wrong - I like Shaq better than Kobe - especially where personality is concerned! However, you can not deny that Kobe has skills. Saying that Shaq has gone to the Finals with 3 teams is irrelevant - Kobe has only played for one team, he can't help that! But the main point is that Shaq is 6+ years older than Kobe - so ask the same question in another 6 years!

Shaq has a clean slate off the court but has been a pain on the court. Kobe has been in legal trouble but makes up for it on the court. It is hard to compare them as players because they play different positions and each has revolutionized their position. Shaq made the center a tall power position while Kobe made the shooting guard the position the NBA offense is run through. When we look back on the two in twenty or so years both will be in the top ten ever to tie the laces.
Kobe may has the edge only because Shaq has always had a premierer shooting guard on his team ( Penny Hardaway, Kobe and Wade) and Kobe is currently lifting the Lakers into a superb Western Conference Team.

I would say Shaq now just because he won titles with both Lakers and the Heats. But in the future, I think Kobe will step forward and become a more dominant player than Shaq.

I want to thank you for making the point clear that Shaq is better...I'm so freak'n sick of hearing people say how Kobe is better...the biggest thing he did w/o Shaq was hit 81 points...that doesnt say nothing but..'i can make shot...not pass.'

So, yeah, Shaq

Yes, that, and Shaq hasn't had any allegations of rape. That's definitely more respectable than Kobe.

And Shaq loves Superman. What could be more All-American? :)
