Our Michigan workers comp policy was cancelled for non-payment. We have yet to receive a billing for it or a cancellation letter from the company but they did notify the State that it was cancelled. The State sent us a letter. We could be liable for fines of up to 1000.00 a day. Are they rigid about enforcing the fines. Apparently this is a simple oversight on someones part and we reinstated the policy today.

The Insurance company can clear the problem if it was their mistake by notifying the State that they were incorrectly notified by them. No fines for their mistake.
