Ishwaq. Pronounced Ish-wok. Would it make a difference if it reflects the native culture of the child?

Heritage is great to honor!....Yes but this name Ishwaq I would integrate as her middle name. Like Gretchen Ishwaq or Amilia Ishwaq! Just a thought good luck!

It's nice to want to use a name that reflects a native culture, but you also have to keep in mind how the child will grow up with a first name so different and unusual. Will she be teased all her life and grow to hate the name? I would use a name more common or known and then, if you want, use Ishwaq for a middle name.

I think that it is great!!! There are so many normal names out there now adays and if I were a child I would rather have a unique name than a boring name. I think it is a great way to teach about culture too. So many names appear in the world and americans and canadians are really snobby to anything differnet but do not let it discourage you.

I believe in naming a child in reflect of native culture but think about your daughter before naming her think of what she would think of the name when she gets old enough to realize its diffrent than anyone elses

As a teacher I'd have to advise you to think long and hard about names for children. I think it is great that you want to have your child's name reflect your culture but I am envisioning a future of cruel nicknames. Ewok comes to mind. Perhaps it could be used as a middle name?

If it reflects the native culture then I'd say it might be ok. I don't really like it, but I is growing on me.I'd say go for it.

If you live in the US, the native culture won't matter--it will just be an easy name for cruel kids to pick on.
And BOY, will they ever! Do you want your child to be bullied?

I like Isha for a girl but not a fan of Ishwaq. It sounds like a restaurant or something. Maybe Ishwaqka or something. I still like the name Isha. Maybe it means something more then it sounds. Whatever it is your baby and culture and heritage is important.
