Well, my ex g/f was molested from age 8 - 12 by a stepfather.
It screwed her up pretty bad. She was very promiscuous (why she's an ex), and didn't seem to care about any consequences of her actions whatsoever.
I think it causes great damage to children, especially if the molester is in a position of trust.

The spectrum is HUGE, but it does affect each and every child who is molested. Frequently, adults who were molested as children have problems with all of their relationships (not just romantic). They tend to have a basic lack of trust. Also, they frequently find they are unable to "love" anyone, and it stems from this lack of trust. Many have sexual dysfunction. Some become child molesters themselves. A great many actually commit suicide.
I was molested as a child and I am now rather middle aged. Yes, it does affect me! I have a hard time trusting people, and an even harder time truly loving anyone. I personally think it's due to that lack of trust, but some therapists would disagree with me. I was fortunate in that help was immediately available to me as a child. I know that it was not my fault. However, it is an integral part of my life and who I am. Now, I devote time to help children who are abused.

I have seen where a girl was molested and when it was reported our so called experts grill them to death and insinuate they have been ruined for life and this is the worst thing that could have ever happened to anyone, this screws up the child much worse than the actual violation could ever have ,
I have also seen where a girl was supposedly molested and nothing happened, and they lived their lives normal, so tell me which is doing the real damage, and before you make your decision put on your thinking cap

Unfortunately, there are no standards as to judge what damage child molestations causes, when the damage can appear, or what age it becomes more traumatic. Some kids are more ble to cope than others

child molestation can be a vicious cycle. a person has to come to terms with it so they can decide that they never want to put another child through what they went through.
