No one was feelin him too much in NYC back in 96 when I was in HS. In fact we listened to Mobb Deep dissin him on Drop a Gem on Em. Nas and Wu Tang were Kings in NY back then. Then he got shot and everyone acts like everyone loved him and thought he was the best which is such BS in my opinion because it's not true.

I think you're right but I think alot of Rap is overrated. Anyone who can rhyme can make a Rap album. It does't take alot of talent to throw together a Rap song. Some of it is alright. I like to hear real musicians play. That's just my opinion. Yeah eveybody got on the Tupac bandwagon after he was shot though. They act like he is some prophet. Who would actually brag about being a thug? That is just silly. Ans have it tatood on your body.

To the girl who said you are just jealous of him: his songs are wack, simple as that.
I never liked Tupac simply because his songs never sounded good to me. I only knew one person (I'm from NY) that liked him before he died, but now a lot of people like him. He is/was way overrated. Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Biggie, now that's some good stuff right there. MF Doom is better, though.

All ...repeat...ALL rap is overated...talentless,materialistic, garbage.......people love jumping on the band wagon, when musicians die they all go out and buy every cd by that person and somehow find soul in that.....then they say they've been listening to since they first came out...when in reality they bought it after the person died....
I should know this cause i was in the Band blind melon...when Shannon died we sold more cds.....but before we didn't.......when it counts the people who bought the cds after he died weren't true fans and i would say that to anyone..i know who the true fans are

Well Death will put anyone on a pedestal, especially if it is a sudden death. He had some highlights I will give him that. But he isn't all that great. Just like that Biggy guy ... Death is what put them right to the top so quickly.

Oh and to that guy down there who thinks Nas is the best....you're just wrong, buddy. Nas is more overrated than Tupac, and he's not even dead yet.

Ofcourse he's overrated. You can't go a day without hearing some new cd of his, (even though he's dead), or how hes still alive....blah blah blah. You either solve the stupid thing or shut up.

I agree...I don't even like most of Tupac's songs, maybe just one or two.
He's just famous cuz he got some street cred since he was shot.
