for my research paper I'm supposed to think of a descriptive narration for the introduction. I'm doing my research paper on the cons of censorship, so i need some advice on what to write about. i was thinking along the lines of a musician writing a song and pouring his heart in only to have it censored but I'm not sure how to start it. any help would be appreciated.

Songs say many things to many people. The words, melody, instrument by which the idea is conveyed, are all creative outlets for artists to exercise their "Freedom of Speech" rights guaranteed by the US Bill of Rights.

However, there becomes a very fine line crossed where censorship stifles the very voice that is trying to be heard. Is it OK to offend persons? religions? other countries? our President & legislative branches of government? Is seems odd that musicians would PURPOSELY do this to be heard, to shock, to sell more records...

The issue then becomes who then is the judge? Who has the right to censor? Is it a "responsibility" say, like of parents, teachers, Church leaders?
Or is it OK to air it for all people to hear, of all ages, even if it is offensive.

My stand is simple. Let their voice be heard. Let each individual make their own mind up. Everyone has the "power" to censor by tuning OUT what they do not wish to hear...

It is not even feasible to consider "policing" the airwaves any longer. It is too far-reaching and technology today has opened up satellite tv and radio, cable, ipods and the Internet. It is a multi-plex of variations and there aren't enough people or money to do it. Within this age of options comes the single most powerful leverage, the "off" button.

[etc. etc. etc. You could then go into more detail on each of the media listed and what it would take to try and police/censor it. EX. Satellite radio has over XXX stations throughout the world. It would take a force of more than XXX people to monitor them all. ]

And based on what criteria? Who would develop it? The FAA?!?!? The government?!?! Private Business?

Good luck..
