what ever u do ...do not ever get mcafee.....why?..because u will play hell gettin it out of ur comp if u ever decide to get rid of it.........mcafee inbeds itself in many system32 files ....i use norton internet secutity 2007....works well for my needs.....i like it because of the way it configures sites and programs for me automatically...norton can be a lil bit of a resourse hog, but if u have a decent size computer that should make any difference ...if ur lQQkin for 1 of the best protections tho..get AVG theres the pro version that u have to pay for and theres the free version that works almost as well...it doesnt have near the options that norton does but pound for pound .......AVG is top-notch in gettin rid of viruses, not to mention it tells u exactly where the virus is embedded .....so if for some reason AVG cant delete or quarentine the virus ...it shows u where its at so u can go delete it manually...go here for the free 1

None is better than the other. I've read independent study after study between all of the major anti-virus vendors and each time a different one gets chosen. The fact is, they all protect you against known threats and some unknown threats (heuristics), it's a matter of preference. Do you like the Norton look vs the McAfee look? Do the buttons/icons/words make more sense to you in one application versus the other? Does one cost more than the other? Those are the things to consider and you should use what you're comfortable with.
I personally use AVG because the price was right (free), but I've used Norton/Symantec, McAfee, F-Prot, Norman, and something called Panda Anti-Virus. They all protect you. If you want the best option, use two - AVG and something else. One might be quicker at catching something than another and they back each other up. I only recommend AVG because you don't have to pay for it. The second is up to you unless you're independently wealthy.

If u like to free up resources then get rid of Norton. Just do a ctrl+alt+del and go to the processes tab and see for ur self the vast amout of resources getting eaten up by Norton...
May be u can test Avast (free version have no time limit) and if u like it u can buy it too.
And if u r a security freak add "Kerio Personal firewall" (again free).

you can try a trail for 30 days for free just click this link http://us.mcafee.com/root/downloads.asp?id=freeTrials but I think you should try Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0. They have eveything you need and it's better than mcafee and norton. Norton and McAfee don't reponse for new virus and spyware fast as Kaspersky does. I think you should try Kaspersky.

Norton is one of the best, with more features that McAfee. I use Computer Associates (not the free stuff).

The question is; Do you want the best internet security there is.
If you answer yes then, then get the following: 1) Kaspersky anti-virus, there's none better and 2) CounterSpy anti-spyware.
With these two programs on your computer I guarantee you will never have a problem.

Any anti-virus protection is a good protection. It just has to be maintained often and updated all the time. If you have Norton, stick with it since you pretty much know how it works. Run a program like http://www.spybot.org to get rid of adware and spyware and http://www.tune-up.com to maintain registry and computer stability for added protection.
