I received a writ of execution in the mail. What is this?

In a civil case, a writ of execution is the court's certification of how much you owe on a judgment. It gives the Sheriff authority to enforce the judgment by doing things such as a wage garnishment or a bank account levy. It usually specifies how the debtor is, when the judgment is entered and how much is owed.
