I'm 6'4 220lbs and run a 4.6 40. I have been stuck there for awhile. I'm scared to do too much lifting cause I'm afraid it may cause me to gain more weight and slow me down some. But a friend told me that lifting may actually help me in sprinting. I know that it does help some. But How can I lift alot without gaining size?

lol your kinda stuck there. what are you training for football or just like to train. your a pretty big guy and honestly you might be at your peak. sure you can work out on your legs to get a better jump start and stamina but like you said along with that comes the weight. so like i said you might be at your peak, you cant just keep improving sonner or later you reach your peak for a while then you decline

well people who weight more can accually lift more, but for example i'm not that heavy and i can lift 3 times my own weight and even thou you may lift it more than i do try lifting 3 times your own weight, and no working out the upper body won't make you fast or have more speed, i always run a mile before i work out. that helps me warm in up and also run faster and good, strong legs and i also play soccer so that really helps.
good luck and if you wanna lose weight maybe you might need to have a diet, but for your size i guess you are in the right weight, plus working out and lifting weights helps a lot.
hey better than some other people that stay here writting and eating junk food.

You need to work primarily on lower body strength. In order to move faster, your body (legs) need to be stronger to do so. Weighlift and train your legs with heavy weight, low reps. This will work the "fast twitch" muscle fibers you want for explosiveness. Low weight, high reps will work the "slow twitch" muscle fibers for endurance.
