New FIFA/Coca Cola World Rankings.?

Question

It is just me or are these rankings a joke.
This does not even look like rankings.
Must have smoked something or drawn names out of a hat.

Italy in 1st?
Ukraine in 11th?
Romania in 15th?
Scotland in 20th?

Since when was Iran better than Australia?
Burkina Faso better than South Africa?

The rankings are biased towards the most recent results. Since there was a world cup in the last 12 months they are as accurate as you can get.

I do not think that the Italy as first can cause a problem - they are world champions - they did not do that by playing friendlies with weak teams :-) Brazil have not had the results when it counted.

In my opinion the ranking is weakest when comparing rankings across different confederations (for example Iran/Australia - though this will be fixed with Austarlia in asia). It also depends of the games played - a strong team fielding a weak squad against a weak country and losing counts in rankings. This type of results biases the results.

i agree the rankings are a joke. they take your history as a team over too broad of a period and i dont think they take into acount the competition. its not like Iran or burkina faso are playing world class teams. i dont know why brazil was on top so long, the played like $hit in the world cup, and while italy may have one it they are not the best in the world either. Im a little pissed that france is still #4 b/c that team has a slim chance to compete with top european countries without Zidane. Ukraine does not have a great team and are really only as good as Shevchenko(who is playing the worst football i have ever seen). Romania, all i can say is why were they even considered for a top 20 spot.

I am american and even i will admit our team has no buisness in the top 30 even with their defeat of mexico(who somehow moved up 2 places)
I would have liked to see ghana a little higher b/c i think with essien allone they are a top 20 team.

Spain, Germany and portugal should be higher(if only a spot) england has not played well nor has the netherlands or the czechs move them down.

Yea they are a joke brasil should be first on the old ranking egypt was 17 but on the new one they are 44 and macedonia is 51 and Australia is better than Iran

They redid their rankings system after this summer's world cup. I really don't agree, because if a team messes up in a game or two it will affect you right away.
