When people move to other countries they have to recognize that those countries will celebrate things that they did not. So, why would we not say those things (I am not a US citizen and I say them). I do not find anything offensive about it at all. It is just as if you had moved to England would you expect everybody there to stop saying Happy Boxing Day just because you moved there. Each country has it's own holidays and customs and when a person moves to that country they adapt to them.
I also believe that people can celebrate Christmas anyway that they want. Some people say Merry Christmas others say Happy Christmas. Some don't celebrate it at all and that is their own beliefs. It is not wrong to celebrate whatever you believe in and say it however you want.

People like to complain. These days it is acceptable to be prejudice and complain about Christians. I don't know why, part of it may be because the media has promoted this idea that it is ok to be prejudice against Christians. It's ridiculous. If someone wishes me a Happy Hannukah or something I would not be offended. I'd probably just say "you too" and be glad someone was friendly.
People are just oversensitive. If someone is wishing you a Merry Christmas or Happy Easter, or whatever, they are being nice and friendly. Smile and accept it, it is not meant as an insult.

Actually very few religions in the US are offended by "merry Christmas", but there is always one or two that have to get in a tissy about nothing.
I say Merry Christmas, if somebody is offended, thats just too bad.
I don't get offended if somebody tells me happy hanauka, or even kwanza! lol
You can tell me happy secretaries day, even though I'm not a secretary, I'm not gonna get ticked about that.

Although there appears to be growing anti-Semitism at this time, a major social movement right now is aimed at suppressing Christianity. Christmas is a Christian holiday, and that is the reason there is so much controversy surrounding it.

Absolutely! I just say Happy Spring, but Happy Vernal Equinox works too. And a Happy Autumnal Equinox for our friends below the equator :)

Well, how ELSE would you acknowledge a given day? "Have a miserable holiday"? "Have an explosive 4th"?? "Have a ghastly Halloween"??? ; Listen, how 'bout we stop nit-picking & leave the semantics to the politicians. Stupidity is "offensive" in my book, & it's downright idiotic that you can't open your mouth these days- without somebody getting bent out of shape. Freedom of speech is one thing.- Using that freedom to whine is pathetic.

With the Balkanization of the U.S. won't be long before you can't say anything that has meaning. The white male is one open season. Can make him look stupid, crazy, dumb ...no problem. Huuummmm what a country.

96% of non-Christians couldn't care less if you tell them 'Merry Christmas'. It's the 4% that make all the noise about it.

Because all it takes is a small group of crazy people, with a couple of crazy lawyers, and then they can go sue crazy. For most businesses, it's better to be safe than sorry.
