Some of their stuff is BS...but a Chiropractor is the only one who I allow to touch my neck or back...when I was younger I had a serious injury that a doctor wanted me in the hospital in traction for 6 weeks for.

3 weeks of chiropractor visits, and I was fine...it was a neck injury and another 1/2" and I could've snapped my neck...it was pretty serious.

Every organ in the human body is controlled by the brain and nervous system. As nerves exit the spinal column through an opening between two adjacent vertebrae, they may become choked off by a misalignment of the vertebrae. If there is nerve interference the body cannot function at 100%. Chiropractors focus on removing nerve interference before it becomes symptomatic, instead of covering up the symptoms with pharmaceuticals. Place a 50 lb brick on your big toe and then close your eyes; I bet you can take enough pills to make the pain go away, but I bet if you open your eyes the brick will still be there and when the drugs wear off the pain will return. A Chiropractor will simply lift the brick off your toe, a medical doctor will look for the next miracle pill to hide the pain. Do you wait to start brushing your teeth after you have a cavity? Do you change the oil in your car after the engine dies? Fight the cause, not the effect.

As a consumer, you are in control. Find a good one and if you do, you should have no regret. I had a long standing shoulder problem that was seen by medical specialists and my own very good doctor. I couldn't accept their diagnosis that 1. there is nothing wrong or 2. for pain, take aspirin (regularly).

Meanwhile, it got worse: shoulder froze, pain became more severe so that it became more difficult for me to get out of bed or dress.

Checked the list of approved health plan chiropractors and picked one conveniently located for us. After several xrays of my back and shoulder, he discovered the problem. I saw the xrays: I have minor scoliosis and the shoulder healed in the wrong position after an old injury.

With manipulation, heat and cold treatments, exercises for increasing the range of motion and strenghtening, my shoulder is OK. I'll always need to do the daily exercises and can't get away from the pain which comes back but now I can put on shirts and jackets normally and seldom need to take an aspirin.

I would go back again if I needed treatment. I would advise that you take control after your problem is under control and decide if you can do without regular tune ups.

Chiropractors are okay. I've gone to a couple that I only saw a few times and felt great after wards. A friend of mine goes to one twice a week and has been going to this guy for years. I think she is getting ripped off. How many times should you have to see someone for the treatment to work?

Chiropractors ARE Doctors! They have their degree in their chosen field.
I have been lucky in finding an excellent chiropractor who has helped many members of my family and friends, even my grandson when he had colic. I wish I could afford to visit him on a more regular basis but only go when I am falling apart. He puts me back together and I feel GREAT!!!

I had a friend who was a physical therapist, she was opposed to chiropractors because they force the body into certain positions, which would temporarily stretch the muscles out but the muscle will shortly return to being tight and more rigid. While physical therapist believe in stretching and gently moving the muscles back into the correct positioning.

I have had a bad spine my whole life and I've had four chiropractors who helped me a lot. All were trained at the Palmer School of Chiropractics. I have gone to others and they were all quacks who wanted my $$$$$$.

I am a massage therapist that works in a chiropractic office. Chiropractic is a drugless practice and works wonderfully in conjunction with other therapies. Before you start treatment I suggest that you sit down with the Dr and discuss the treatment plan. also ask for a referral to a massage therapist and a nutritionist. Then lay back relax and trust the Dr.

I am fortunate to have one who uses an activator and is a muscle specialist. I would not be walking without his help.
They do go to school but because most people have not accepted them yet they are not getting the benefit of letting their bodies help themselves instead of being medicated.
If your issue is pain caused by muscles and would like to learn more read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
You may learn more than the Md's that could not help me.

I 100 percent think they are wonderful. People dont understand what chiropractics can do for you. The back and spine alignment can cause all sorts of problems from ear infections to headaches!

Alot of the familys at my church take there babies from infants to the chiropractor (I would, but dont have that kinda money!). Its amazing what they cure. Spitting up, constipation, ect. Things you would normally just dismiss, and they are cure from that little crack! They dont do it like they would do an adult, but they lightly do it, and it works!!

Good luck finding one, they are worth it!
