If you catch one of the band members eye, smile and stuff like that, or met them at a meet and greet before the show, you can get lucky and they will pull you backstage. My friend met the veronicas at a meet and greet weeks before and they happened to sneak backstage during Coke Live, the security guard didn't care, and Jess and Lisa pulled them into their dressing rooms and hung out with them till the show was over, because they remembered them.
Becareful though, it all depends on the band and where the concert is being held. Like the rest are saying, push your way to the front and make eye contact with the band members.

At concerts with GA, you have to push your way to the front. It's obnoxious but there's no other way unless, like someone said, you crowd surf, which is good if you're short.

it depend on what kind of concert it is... if it is like contemporary music just ask the people in front of you to kindly let you though. If it is a rock, hardcore, or metal concert then crowd surf to the front or flash people to get up to the font :D

I've seen 90% of concerts front row center stage. Answer is to go alone, go early, and keep moving forward every chance you get.

go along the side up to the front, then try to cut into the middle. Let your friends lead the way.

Get on the floor, and move with the crowd. Before you know it, you're gonna be really close. I ended up next to a speaker on the stage, once.
