I am diabetic. Eleven months ago, at the age of 38, I had my first baby. He was 9 lbs 12 oz. He was born C-section. I wanted natural birth which my doc encouraged. Two days before the scheduled induction, they did another ultra sound which said the baby was 10 lbs 10 oz. That's why we decided on the C-section at the last minute. Everything went great and my son is doing very well. Just wanted to say that the ultrasounds are only accurate to within a whole pound either way. Because you do not have diabetes (and I assume are otherwise healthly), I also think you will do just fine. My mom & my aunt delivered big babies naturally with no problems.
Congratulations and enjoy your baby.

My husband was 11 pounds 13 ounces and my brother was 10 pounds 7 ounces and both were born vaginally without incidence. When I was pregnant they scheduled me for an induction at 38 weeks because of our family history of large babies. My son ended up coming a few days before that and still weighed 7 pound 14 ozs. I would inquire about being induced or you could end up on the operating table.

Well that is big but just to help you feel better they are often off on the baby size. I have only had little tiny babies but they told me that my oldest would be between 9-10 lbs and she was 6lbs 12 oz. I have heard that they are often wrong from many other women as well. It will be what it will be. Good luck and enjoy your new bundle of joy!

my second baby was 10 pounds and 11 ounces let me tell ya chick.OH I also had him natural. I have a bad back and no epidural for me and when I asked for some pain meds. the doctor said.."no ms. Landry babys in distress"so I had him natural. What I did was think of the most sissy girlfriend I had that had had a baby and thought if she can do it I know I can. And that helped me. Also it really dosen't hurt that much you are so excited and so much is going on the pain is not to bad.Hope this helps.

My son was 8-12, so not quite 10 lbs, but pretty close. I delivered him with no problems 13 hours of labor and 20 minutes of pushing. He is now six years old and a very normal and healthy 52 lbs.

I didn't have diabetes either and I had a 10 lb 6 ouncer who came out just fine totally naturally... that is, with out any mediation! Yay. I was in pretty good shape and was able to push him through the ring of fire with a lot of help from my husband's positive ensouragement. Do your pelvic floor exercizes, they really help you learn how to relax. I found that the hardest part was learning how to push. No one told me that it would take me a while to figure out how to do it. Most of my pushing in the beginning didn't really move him down the canal. But the nurses kept giving me feedback and telling me when I had a good push and then I figured it out. Good luck! You can do it. With big babies, there is more to love!!!

I know a woman that vaginally delivered an 11lb 3oz boy. She did not have gestational diabetes or any other problems in pregnancy, delivery, or recovery. The baby was just fine.

my son was 4215gr and he was beautiful healthy baby!!! he's 7 1/2 months old now... he was 10.2kg when he was 7m old...
so don't worry about her size...as long as she is happy and healthy! :)
and trust me better to have bigger then smaller baby! i know few of them who had tinny babies(full term) 'cause they were dieting so they can look good and than they had 2.5kg(full term) babies who cried all the time... and you were scared to touch them 'cause they looked like they are going to break if you do...
anyway good luck 4 28th or whenever she's coming...hope all goes fine...

mine was 9.3... he was delivered naturely... nothing like i was told it would be... if i have another one, i hope it goes as well as the 1st one. the only problem i had was back pain.
now my hubby on the other hand, he was right at 13 POUNDS...
ya, glad it was his mom and not me..
don't be scared, if the doc sees where you will have trouble, he/she will do what is needed.
CONGRADS AND GOOD LUCK!!!
