i know i'm anemic, and my periods have always been irregular, usually once every 3-6 months. could being anemic have anything to do with this, or are they two totally different areas? i just began to take iron supplements and i haven't gotten my period since october.

actually, frequent bleeding can cause the anemia. have you been to your obgyn? may be a hormone inbalance. stress can also cause irregularity.

I am also slightly anemic and used to take iron supplements, I also have irregular cycles, it ranges from a month and a half to three months or so, this makes it difficult for me to get pregant, it sucks, but I never thought my period is irregular because of anemia............... cool thought, I will ask my Dr about this

some times being anemic does cause you to get a veryv heavy period or in other case some one do not get a period at all but i recommend that you see a doctor about this problem because if you are taking iron supplements and you are not low in iron you could cause some serious harm to your self.. being anemis means you are low in some mineral

Being anemic can effect your cycles. Give it a month or two to see if the iron supplements help. If not, check with your doctor :)

I have been anaemic in the past myself, and it never stopped my periods so I believe one would have nothing to do with the other.

But I definitely would go to my gynaecologist for a check up to determine why my periods are not regular. You should have a pap smear and a full check up to determine what is causing this. It could become a serious problem if left unchecked. I hope this helps.

What has your OB/GYN said about these two issues? I would think if you had a heavy period every month you would have anemia, but this is opposite.

Your CBC has to be very low ! Not to get your period. You should go to the doctors. If your "complete blood count' is very low you'll be very extremely exhausted. Go get it checked out, everyone body handles things differently. Good Luck!

Too much vitiman K in your diet would contribute to this too. It helps clot the blood!
