In my non-doctor experience, it could be several things. First of all, it could be normal, just depends on whether it is before or after you ovulate (Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book to help you figure that out). Ovulating occurs in a textbook (which isn't necessarily what happens in real life) 14 days after you start your period. Before you ovulate, the discharge is more likely to be okay. After you ovulate, probably not good. Normal ovulation fluid has the consistency of egg whites right before you ovulate generally, and it'll stretch between your fingers and not dry out.
The second thing it could be is a yeast infection, but that usually has just white discharge that smells like vinegar, and you itch like crazy. You'll generally get really itchy right before your period and possibly at night, but then the itch etc, will go away during and slightly after your period.
The third thing it could be is a bacterial infection (not an STD) and you can get that for almost any reason. Your vagina might not smell fishy, but you can still have a bacterial infection. The natural bacteria might have gotten out of hand. Many women (this is from my doctor and my reading) have bacterial infections and they have no idea. It doesn't smell that bad or anything. The smell and the discharge will get worse during your period.
Hope this helps! If you are worried though, I would suggest going to your doctor 'cause they can do a culture and tell you for sure.

I was suprised at all the answeres to this, most people said it wasn't normaly. There is such a thing as, Vaginal discharge, which you usually start after you get your period, or just before. It's a normal thing, your vagina expels it to clean our your vaginal canal. It can however, also be a discharge that's a sign of yeast infection. Now it's difficult to tell, though, becuase vaginal discharge can be whitish to very yellow in color, however, usually healthy is more on the whitish side. I'd say, if it's extremely yellow, you should see your doctor. If you haven't started your period yet, and don't within the next month, see your doctor. If you've just started your period recently, then it should be normal. (Now this doesn't just occur during your period, or right before or right after, in my experience, I have it all month long, some days more than others, and some days I don't have any).
I hope eerything's alright! I also think, if it has no odor, that it's fine. But if it has a strong odor, it might be a yeast infection. Consult your mother maybe?

I would say it sounds like a yeast infection. It doesn't matter if you are sexually active or not, you can still get yeast infections. I would contact your doctor so they can get you some medication to clear this up.
Have you taken any strong antibiotics lately? That can easily cause an infection.
Hope you feel better!

Sometimes you can get discharge like that before you get your period. I always notice a change in smell and amount. You could be just getting your period soon.
