There usually isn't much left over. Apple starts to slowly reduce production of products that are going to be replaced so when the new one comes out, they don't have much stock left over of the old. Any products that are left are usually returned to distribution and quickly sold online. If there is a lot of stock, say from an unpopular item, it is sold to educational outlets and large corporations.
But when was the last time there was an unpopular Apple product?

Your best bet to find an old product is to look on the Apple store online under discounted items or other third party resellers that specialize in old products.

Hello eugeennee,

What's really great about Apple is that their stuff is pretty backwards compatible. The universal binary can be run on PowerPC as well as Intel chips. Oh, and also the older PowerPC software works fine on the Intel Macs using Rossetta.

Yeah, the new stuff won't work on the old Motorola 680X0 processor Macs, but then how is Windows XP doing on 8086?
