how to be a certified teacher in ny state?

whaqt are the ny state requirments... if i got my bs in another state and want to teach in ny state what is the requirement.

Is your BS in Education? Get your Master's degree in education. You need to take 4 tests to be certified--the LAST, CTS-W, CST, and the certification test. Most schools in NY (except maybe NYC) require you to have a master's degree to teach. You can look at these requirements and practice tests on this website

I used to teach in the State of Florida and now teach in NYC. There is something called reciprocity between the states. That means that you have a few years to teach in the state that you are moving to before meeting their requirements. (Providing that you are certified already in that state. If not, all bets are off.)
If you are certified in another state, you may teach in NY for 2 years. You will be given a license called a conditional provisional. During that time, you must take the LAST. (Liberal Arts and Science Test). After that, you will have 3 more years on a license called a provisional license. During that 5 year period, you must obtain a Master's Degree. If you don't, your certification will expire. This is true for all of NY State, and not just NYC. Certification comes through the state and not through the city, so the requirements are the same for everyone.

i believe that you have to take a state teaches exam in ny, to find out you can call the school board office there and ask them for the most i believe , that if you have a bs in teaching you can teach just about anywhere
