They choose not to have school due to cold weather because of the wind chills. If it is below zero, and the wind chills are below a certain temperature (below zero) then it is too dangerous for students (and teachers) to travel. A couple of examples: if a student were to walk to school, even bundled up properly, and still get frostbite; or a bus to break down, and not be able to reach the students and driver before they would be too cold. It is definately for safety reasons. Is this a student COMPLAINING that they don't have school? WOW!!!! That's a first. Just be glad if there aren't a lot of "snow" days, so you don't have to attend school into July.

The principle reasons why school should be postponed (not cancelled permanently) in cold weather, is because it may endanger the health or safety of students or prevent them from traveling or arriving at schools, or find themselves stranded at school unable to return to their homes. Any other reasons are merely for the convenience of families, students, and teachers, but not as important as the first reason. .

I had no problems going to school in the winter during the cold WEATHER. To me not going to school because it was cold outside was just an excuse - unless there truly was a blizzard!!
Would you rather stay at home and do that Homework of yours?
