Before college and univerities became prevalent. Did we have as many jobs as we do now?

restaurants, hotels, companies doing all sorts of things.

can you think of examples?

There is little or no connection between University 'education' and the range of Jobs / level of youth Employment.

There was a time when only 10 to 15% of School leavers went onto University education - and of these, only about half graduated. Thus any Graduate was amongst the 'top 5%' - so they could expect to walk into just about any job going.

These days, some-where between 45 and 50% go to 'University' - and (almost) all of them 'pass'. So a 'Graduate' is now simply 'above average' ...
