Kobe

If it's exclusively offense then I say Kobe or Allen Iverson. Kobe is a scoring freak obviously with the second most points in a game with 84, but Iverson has been breaking people down one on one his whole career especially in his tenure in Philly. Gilbert Arenas is perhaps the most clutch player lately with all the buzzer beating game winning shots from all parts of the court this season.

However, if it's about both offense and defense I might actually have to go with Shaq or Stoudemire because they can block and score better than most in the league. They dominate on both ends at times. Kobe has been on the NBA Defensive team in the past, but I don't see all of that anymore. People go out of their way to avoid the lane when playing against people like Shaq or Stoudemire.

Same as the best team player in the NBA Kobe Bryant. Don't believe me? Replace Steve Nash with Kobe Bryant on the Suns and what do you get? A World Championship!

I would say Wade. He is very tough to cover he can take you either hand equaly and he is a tough defender and a great finisher!

I also would love to see Garnett play one on one. He is big and very quick. Can shoot from the outside and inside veery effectivly. He is a great defender. Being from minnesota i have seen him play every position on hte court including the point many times and is good at all 5 spots

There's a very simple answer to this question: Basketball is not about 1 on 1 play.

Save that garbage for the And1 tour, by the way is that crap still on TV???

kobe bryant without a doubt.

he is taller than most shooting guards, he is mr.clutch, perfects those free throws, fadaway jumpers are money, he can dunk and dish out assists, he can draw fouls and can grad rebounds. He isn't selfish and he passes. He is the main key to the Loss Angeles Lakers

Kobe Bryant. He is still the master of one-on-one play in the NBA today.
He can draw a foul from his defender (in the act of shooting!), drive past against his opponents, and if he can't shrug them off he'll just take a fade-away jumper.
